MCG successfully organized a Leadership Training Program for NEC Vietnam (16-17/1/2015)
At the end of January, 2015, in the framework of the Program supporting the Leadership Development for regional companies (Australia, Vietnam, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia…) of NEC Asia Pacific, 29 senior managers of NEC Vietnam has completed the Leadership Training Course, which is implemented by MCG Management Consulting Company.
The training contents, which MCG was “ordered”, are coaching and effective team work based on knowledge of DISC character groups.
DISC classifies human character into four main groups, which are (1) Dominance – D; (2) Influence – I; (3) Compliance – C; (4) Steadiness – S. Each style has its own strengths and weaknesses but they all have potential and ability to become leaders. People with D style personality are tough-minded, driven, demanding, and not afraid of confrontation. As a leader, a person with a D style personality is ambitious, forceful, commanding and driven.
People with I style personality are enthusiastic, extrovert, optimistic and they enjoy an interactive environment. I style leaders are able to naturally motivate and inspire the people around them with extreme persuasiveness.
People with S style personality are collaborative, considerate, and communicative. S style leaders are good listeners that are inclusive of other people’s ideas, and are excellent at mediating conflict in a stressful environment.
S leaders are calm, patient, and relaxed. They tend to put everyone at ease, and are seen by others as dependable and supportive. If a cooperative and harmonious environment is what you’re looking to create, there’s no better leader than an S personality.People with C style personality are methodical and organized. Perfectionists at heart, they hold everyone that works for them to high standards of excellence and plan to look at problems from all sides. Leaders with a C personality are excellent at enforcing deadlines, creating schedules, and are sticklers for accuracy.
Joining the training course with managers of NEC Vietnam, there were Mr. Jonathan TAN – Vice President of Asia Pacific Regional Human Resources; Mr. Keita Ito – General Director of NEC Vietnam and observers from Global NEC. Through the training program, participants had an opportunity to discuss and share their experiences in: personality assessment tool – DISC and its applications in HR management; methods and skills for working/communicating effectively with people in different character groups; coaching skills, listening and giving positive feedback.
NEC Vietnam managers had participated enthusiastically in the training course. With some participants, the training contents were new even though they already had management experiences. Especially, participants had opportunities experiencing the real-life managerial cases and discussing the solutions at class. The modern training method and team building activities, combined with knowledge and experiences of trainers made participants really excited and they looked forward to having other training courses of MCG in the future.
